Young, Charles George, Sir, Garter King of Arms (1785 -1869)
Charles George Young was Born on 6 April 1795, the son of Jonathan Young, a doctor of medicine who practiced in Lambeth. He was educated at Charterhouse. In 1813 he entered the College of Arms and was Rouge Dragon Pursuivant in 1813, York Herald in 1820, and from 1822 to 1842 Registrar of the College and Garter King of Arms from 1842 to 1869. As York Herald, in 1829 he printed, at his own expense, a catalogue of the Arundel heraldic MSS which had been presented to the College in 1678. He died 31 August 1869.
