Wynne, Owen (1843 -1898)

Owen Wynne, of Haslewood in County Sligo, was the only surviving son of John Wandesforde Arthur Wynne, Under Secretary for Ireland, and Anne Butler, daughter of James 2nd Marquess of Ormonde. Educated at Christ Church, Oxford, where he matriculated 13 December 1861, but took no degree, he succeeded his father in 1865, was Lieutenant in the 61st of Foot, Captain of the Sligo Militia, and married, in 1870, Stella Fanny, daughter of Sir Robert Gore Booth Bart. They had four daughters. He was a Justice of the Peace and Deputy Lieutenant for the County of Sligo, and Justice of the Peace for County Leitrim, and High Sheriff of Sligo 1875, and Leitrim 1879.
