Topsfield, Henry N/A

The arms and crest are those of Topsfield of Frisingfield near Harleston in Norfolk. Without the mullet they are Topsfield of Fressingfield, Gislingham, Pakenham or Redisham in Suffolk and Norfolk. According to Clements it belonged “perhaps Henry Topsfield who was Sheriff of London in [ ] and married Susan Muschamp before 1568”. All the bindings have the same roll in blind (J.B. Oldham, English blind stamped bindings. Cambridge, 1952 HE.g.8). The same source records the use of the roll alone on books printed between 1570 and 1581, and attributes the bindings to London. Apart from the mullets the stamps are identical.
