Strachey, Richard (1781 -1847)

Richard Charles Strachey of Ashwick Grove, Shepton Mallet, was the son of Sir Henry Strachey, 1st Baronet (1736-1810), Private Secretary to Lord Clive; and cousin of Sir Edward Strachey, Baronet. He was a scientific man and antiquarian. He published one or two geological tracts, and also wrote a history of Somerset which has never been published. The manuscript is still at Sutton Court in the possession of Sir Edward Strachey, his descendant
