Stanley, Edward John, 6th Baron Sheffield, of Alderley (1907 -1971)
Edward John Stanley was born 9 October 1907, the eldest son of Arthur Lyulph Stanley, 5th Baron Stanley of Alderley and 5th Baron Sheffield, and Margaret Evelyn, daughter of Henry Gordon. He was educated at Eton and Balliol College Oxford. He succeeded his father as 6th Baron Stanley of Alderley and 6th Baron Sheffield 22 August 1931, and was known as Lord Sheffield, the older of his two peerages. He married on 3 March 1932 Lady Victoria Audrey Beatrice Chetwynd-Talbot with whom he had one daughter. They were divorced in 1939, and he married secondly 18 January 1944 Edith Louise Sylva, daughter of Arthur Hawkes and widow of Douglas Fairbanks Senior. They divorced in 1948, and he married thirdly Thérèse Husson. They divorced in 1957, and he married fourthly Kathleen Margaret, daughter of Cecil Murray Wright and widow of Sir Edmund Frank Crane. Lord Sheffield died in 1971.
