Morse, Charles (1820 -1883)
This binding was made for William Stirling, afterwards Sir William Stirling Maxwell, for presentation to Charles Morse. The outer frame, which is separate and used with both the stamps on this binding is Sir William Stirling Maxwell stamp 1. Charles Morse was probably the son of George Morse of Aylsham in Norfolk. He was a barrister and a Justice of the Peace and Deputy Lieutenant for Norfolk. Part of the library of Charles Morse was sold in 1895.
