Johnson, George N/A
According to Glover's Ordinary, the arms are those of Johnson of Lothelay in Yorkshire. They may, however, possibly be those of George, second son of John Johnson of Moseley in Staffordshire, and Margaret, daughter of Thomas Becket of the same. The arms are shown as those of his father `respited for proof' in the Visitation of Staffordshire 1663 1634 p. 192. Harl. Soc. lxiii.144 Staffordshire Pedigrees 1664 1700. It is curious that the arms, which are not Scottish seem to be on books that were in Scotland at an early date. Robert Allan bookbinder and bookseller was active in Edinburgh 1695-1696.
