Geoffrays, John (1610 -1660)
John Geoffrays was the eldest son of Robert Geoffrays, Merchant of London, and Temperance, daughter of Hugh Willson, in Yorkshire. Educated at Emmanuel College, Cambridge, where he was admitted a pensioner 2 April 1627, he took his B.A. in 1631, and his M.A. in 1634, he may have been Rector of Wavendon in Buckinghamshire 1648 1660. He left some books to Emmanuel College, and the stamp was cut to mark them with. The arms, Sable a griffin within a bordure engrailed or, were granted to Geoffrays by Sir William Segar, Garter King of Arms (1606 1633).
