The Dublin Library Society was located in D'Olier Street, near Carlisle Bridge. It contained over 12,000 volumes “of every modern work of merit”, and was a private society, with a subscription of two guineas in the first, and one in subsequent years. There was a separate lending library with a subscription of one guinea a year.
