Thomas Dixon, of Braughing in Hertfordshire, was the son of James Dixon, of London, and Ann, daughter of Thomas Jennings, of London, and grandson of William Dixon, of Staindrop in County Durham. Educated at Christ's College, Cambridge, where he was admitted a Pensioner in June 1602, he was perhaps admitted to the Middle Temple on 17 May 1609. He married Frances, daughter of Robert Carter of Hatfield in Hertfordshire. The arms and crest were granted to his father James Dixon, son of William Dixon of Staindrop County Durham by Robert Cook, Clarenceux King of Arms 12 September 1579. There are various Dixon sale catalogues in the British Library, but the book cited above occurs in none of them.
