Beckford, Francis Love (1764 -1838)

Francis Love Beckford was the only son of Francis Beckford Esq., of Basing Park in Hampshire, and his second wife, Susannah Love. He married, in 1788, Joanna, third daughter and coheir of John Leigh Esq. of Northcote House, Isle of Wight, and widow of Richard Bennett Lloyd. The stamp could also have belonged to his father Francis Beckford, sixth son of Peter Beckford, Speaker of the House of Assembly of Jamaica, and Bathshua, daughter and heir of Colonel Julines Hering. The elder Francis Beckford was the uncle of William Beckford, the author of Vathek.
