Augusta Sophia, Princess (1768 -1840)

Augusta Sophia was the 6th child and the 2nd daughter of George III, King of Great Britain and his Queen, Princess Sophia Charlotte, daughter of Charles I, Duke of Mecklenburg? Strelitz. She is mentioned several times in Mme D'Arblay's diary. A lively girl, she was teased for her supposed attachment to the Prince Royal of Denmark, and sang songs of her own composition, but never married. In 1810 she was in attendance on her father, helping him to take exercise at Windsor, and in 1820 she was again in attendance during his last illness. At his death that year she was given her own establishments at Frogmore, and at Clarence House, St James.
